About Us

The Toronto Developmental Services Alliance (TDSA) – Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC) team has been developed to address the gaps in infectious disease programming, leverage relationships with academic hospitals and Toronto Public Health, and align with the Ontario Government COVID-19 Action Plan for Vulnerable People to ensure preparedness for the prevention and management of COVID-19.

IPAC

Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC) refers to evidence-based practices that, when consistently implemented, help to prevent and/or reduce the risk of disease transmission and infection. As part of the IPAC offering, the Toronto Developmental Services Alliance (TDSA)-IPAC team is providing access to:

  • IPAC virtual educational sessions. The session topics are aligned with Public Health Ontario, Provincial Infection Prevention and Control Standards (PIDAC) and Accreditation Canada Community Based National IPAC Standards
  •  On-site visit with an Infectious Disease (ID) Specialist. The ID Specialist will provide information on best practices and lessons learned as well as answer agency questions.

Testing

The TDSA-IPAC Team is offering both N95 Mask Fit Testing and Mobile Swab Testing:

  • N95 Mask Fit Testing

N95 Respirators are personal protective devices that are worn on the face and cover the nose and mouth to reduce the wearer’s risk of inhaling airborne particles. A NIOSH-certified N95 respirator filters particles one micron in size, has 95% filter efficiency and provides a tight facial seal with less than 10% leak.

The TDSA-IPAC team is providing N95 mask fit testing free of charge to all staff working in TDSA organizations. Agencies should schedule sessions in groups.

  • Swab Testing

The TDSA-IPAC team is offering Mobile Swab testing for agencies. This Mobile Swab team will visit agency sites in a prioritized sequence and test all clients and staff for COVID-19.
